How this site was made, what it runs on, and what it does not do.
The idea
For fifteen years, clausewl.com showed one picture. Now the whole site changes design era as you scroll through my life, from the stitched leather of 2011 to the liquid glass of 2026.
Built with
- Astro
- Static HTML, built ahead of time, written in TypeScript. No UI framework: the little interactivity there is runs as small vanilla scripts.
- ScrollCraft
- The scroll engine, by Nate Herk, under the MIT licence. It runs unedited from
/sc/, with its licence beside it and in full below. - Fontsource
- Every typeface is self-hosted through Fontsource, served from this domain. No font service sees your visit.
- Hosting
- Static files on Vercel.

Privacy
- No cookies. None set, none read.
- No tracking. No pixels, no fingerprinting, no third-party scripts.
- Anonymous counts on the game pages only. The link-in-bio pages (/chess and /sim) count visits without cookies or stored IDs: which platform sent you, your country and type of device (from Vercel), how long the page was visible, how far you scrolled and which links you tapped. Your IP address only makes a daily hash, with a salt that is deleted every day, and is never stored. The counts go to my own Supabase database. No other page counts anything.
- localStorage, for you only. A few small conveniences, like a setting you chose, stay in your own browser. Nothing in it is sent anywhere, and clearing site data removes it.
- Everything comes from here. Fonts, scripts and images load from clausewl.com. Links to other sites are plain links.

iPhone and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. They appear here only as factual references. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple.
The era homages are built from original artwork and free fonts: no Apple icons, wallpapers, sounds, logos or system fonts.
