This policy explains how the iPhone app Colorana (“the app”) handles information. The app is published by Claudiu Tigaroi (“I”, “me”), an individual developer based in Romania, in the European Union.

The short version

  • I collect nothing. There is no account, no sign-up, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
  • The app has no servers. Your analysis happens on your iPhone and stays there.
  • Camera frames are processed in memory and are never sent to me.
  • Only color numbers are saved, on your iPhone. Photos are saved only when you take one, and they leave your iPhone only if you share or save them.
  • Delete my data in the app's Settings erases your results, photos and wardrobe.

What the camera is used for

The front camera measures the colors of your skin, hair, brows and eyes against a white sheet of paper. It also shows a solid-color drape under your chin in the live mirror. The rear camera is used when a friend holds your iPhone (Friend Mode) and when you check a garment with the Shop Scanner.

Frames are processed on your iPhone, in memory, while a measurement or a live preview is running. They are written to storage only when you ask: when you take a Lookbook photo, save a wardrobe item, or make a card, photo or video to share. They are never sent to me. No filters are applied, and your face is never edited.

To place the drape and find the areas it samples, the app finds the outline of your face (face landmarks) and separates you from the background. Apple's Vision framework does this on your iPhone. This face geometry is used only for that moment. It is not stored, not sent, not used to recognize or identify anyone, and not used for advertising or any other purpose.

What is saved on your iPhone

  • Your results, as numbers: measured color values (for example CIELAB values of your skin, hair, brows and eyes), your season probabilities, your quiz answers, your “1 or 2?” choices, and any hair or eye color you corrected.
  • Lookbook photos you take in the live mirror, with the color and Match score of the drape. They are stored inside the app with iOS Data Protection.
  • Wardrobe items from the Shop Scanner: the measured color, its Match score, a note you add, and an optional small photo.
  • Settings, such as whether you finished onboarding, how many free checks you've used, and a local record of your purchase status.

None of this is sent to me. It stays until you delete it or delete the app.

Photos, sharing and saving

The app asks for permission to add to your photo library, and only when you tap Save. It can't read your library. When you pick a screenshot or photo for the Shop Scanner, iOS shares only the image you choose.

When you share a card, a video or a photo, it goes to the app or person you choose, under their terms. If you save to Photos and use iCloud Photos, Apple syncs it according to your settings.

Widgets, Siri, Shortcuts and Visual Intelligence

So that widgets, Siri, Shortcuts and Visual Intelligence can show your colors, the app keeps a copy of your result in its own shared container on your iPhone (an App Group): your season and its probabilities, your undertone, your color names and hex codes, and the measured color values. It never leaves your device.

When you use Siri or Visual Intelligence, Apple processes your request under Apple's privacy policy. The app answers from the data on your iPhone and sends nothing to me.

Purchases

Purchases are made through the App Store and processed by Apple. I don't receive your name, email or payment details. The app checks your purchase status on your iPhone through Apple's StoreKit. Apple gives me aggregated reports in App Store Connect, such as the number of downloads and purchases, and crash reports from people who chose to share them with developers in their device settings. These reports don't identify you to me.

Notifications

If you turn on the optional reminder before a free trial ends, the app schedules a notification on your iPhone. No notification server is involved, and nothing is sent to me.

No tracking, no ads, no third-party code

The app contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software from other companies. It does not track you across apps or websites and doesn't use the advertising identifier.

If you contact me

If you email or call me, I receive your email address or phone number and whatever you tell me. I use it only to answer you, and I delete it when it's no longer needed. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in replying to you (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

My mailbox is hosted by Google (Gmail), which stores the messages for me.

Please don't send photos of your face. I don't need them to help you.

Children

The app doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children. It is not directed at children under 13.

Your choices

  • Delete my data in the app's Settings erases your results, Lookbook photos, wardrobe and the copy kept for widgets from your iPhone. A few small settings stay until you delete the app, such as how many free checks you've used and a trial reminder you turned on.
  • Deleting the app removes all of its data from your iPhone.
  • If you back up your iPhone (iCloud Backup or a computer), the backup includes the app's data. That backup is under your control, and I can't access it.

Your rights, and who is responsible

The controller of the personal data described here is Claudiu Tigaroi, an individual developer based in Romania, in the European Union. You can reach me at claudiutigaroi@gmail.com.

The app sends me no personal data, so there is nothing for me to access, correct, export or delete on my side. What the app keeps is on your iPhone, and you control it with the choices above.

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, write to me. I'll answer within one month. No automated decisions or profiling are made about you.

You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Romania, the ANSPDCP (dataprotection.ro), or the authority of the EU country where you live or work.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, I'll post the new version here with a new date.

If I ever add a way to share information, such as an option to contribute anonymous color numbers to improve the app, it will be off by default and will ask for your permission first. I'll update this policy and the App Store privacy details before that version is released.
