Getting started

Why a white sheet, and which one?

Color consultants drape clients under a white cape so nothing tints the face. The app uses a sheet of paper the same way: as a white reference that corrects your camera's color. Any plain, matte white printer paper works, US Letter or A4. Glossy, lined, cream or recycled-grey paper won't work.

Hold the sheet flat under your chin so it fills the rectangle on screen. Face a window in daytime, take off makeup, and pull your hair back from your face.

The app says the light isn't good enough

That's on purpose. Measuring in bad light is what makes other apps give a different season every time. Try this:

  • Face the window directly, so light falls evenly on both cheeks.
  • Use daylight. Turn off warm lamps and colored lights in the room.
  • Avoid direct sun on your face. A bright, overcast window is ideal.
  • Hold the phone at arm's length, at eye level, and keep still for a moment.
  • Keep the sheet flat and fully in view, without shadows across it.

The app tells you one thing at a time, for example “Turn toward the window”. When the light is good, it measures by itself.

I don't have a sheet, or I already know my season

Tap “I don't have a sheet” on the Light Check screen, or skip the camera, to get a quiz-only result. It's clearly labelled as less certain, because it isn't measured. You can re-test later with a sheet.

If a consultant has already told you your season, choose “I already know my season” and enter it. You keep every tool, and you can still take a measured test later for a second opinion.

The app got my hair or eye color wrong

You can correct the detected hair and eye colors. Dyed hair, gray hair and very dark eyes are the most common cases. Your result updates with the corrected values.

Your result

Why can my result differ from a consultant or another app?

  • Light and camera. A phone camera is not a lab instrument. The sheet and the light check reduce the error, but they can't remove it.
  • What's on your face. Makeup, self-tanner, a recent tan, dyed hair and colored contact lenses all change what the camera sees.
  • Systems differ. This app uses 12 seasons. Some consultants use 4 or 16, or their own names, so a “Soft Autumn” here can sit next to a “Muted Autumn” elsewhere.
  • Close calls. Some people sit between two seasons. That's why you see probabilities, for example 64% Soft Autumn and 22% Soft Summer, instead of a single label.

Use the “1 or 2?” test and the live mirror to decide: they show you the difference on your own face. A consultant who drapes you with real fabric in controlled light is still the reference.

Can I re-test?

Yes, free and as often as you like. Try different days and windows. If your season stays the same, you can trust it. With Pro, stability history shows how your re-tests agree.

How does Friend Mode work?

In the “1 or 2?” test, choose Friend Mode and hand your iPhone to a friend. The rear camera faces you, and your friend picks 1 or 2 for each drape. Their eyes aren't biased by which colors you like to wear.

Purchases

What's free and what's Pro?

Free:

  • your season with probabilities, and your undertone
  • the full “1 or 2?” test with Friend Mode
  • 12 best colors and 3 to avoid
  • unlimited re-tests
  • the share card and video
  • widgets, Siri and Shortcuts
  • 10 live mirror colors a day and 3 Lookbook photos
  • 3 Shop Scanner checks

Pro adds the full palette with neutrals and metals, makeup and hair directions, unlimited mirror colors and Lookbook photos, unlimited Shop Scanner checks for your wardrobe, and stability history.

Pay once or yearly. Never weekly. Yearly is $29.99 with a 3-day free trial. Lifetime is $39.99 once. Those are US prices, and Family Sharing is included. Full terms are on the terms page.

How do I restore purchases?

In the app, open Settings and tap Restore purchases. It's also on the purchase screen. Use the same Apple Account you bought with.

How do I cancel a subscription?

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
  3. Choose the app's subscription and tap Cancel Subscription.

Or, in the app, open Settings and tap Manage subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

The yearly free trial lasts 3 days. You can turn on a reminder for 1 day before it ends.

If you bought Lifetime while a yearly subscription was active, cancel the subscription the same way so it doesn't renew.

How do I ask for a refund?

Apple handles refunds. In the app, open Settings and tap Request a refund, or go to reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your data

How do I delete my data?

In the app, open Settings and tap Delete my data. It erases your results, Lookbook photos, wardrobe and the copy kept for widgets from your iPhone. Images you saved to Photos stay in Photos until you delete them there. Deleting the app removes all of its data.

Nothing is stored anywhere else: there's no account and no server. Details are in the privacy policy.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The analysis, the live mirror and your palette all run on your iPhone. Buying or restoring Pro needs an internet connection.

Apple features

How do I add the widgets or the Control Center control?

Finish one result first, so the widgets have colors to show.

  • Home Screen: touch and hold an empty area, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for the app. The small widget shows today's color. The medium one shows your season and 6 colors.
  • Lock Screen: touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, choose the Lock Screen, tap the widget area, and add a rectangular or circular widget.
  • Control Center (iOS 18 or later): open Control Center, tap +, then Add a Control, and choose “Open the live mirror”.

What can I ask Siri?

  • “What's my season in Colorana”
  • “What's my color today in Colorana”
  • “Open the live mirror in Colorana”
  • “Check a color in Colorana”, then say a color name or a hex code, such as “sage” or 9CA88A. Siri answers with its Match.

The same actions are in the Shortcuts app, so you can build them into your own shortcuts.

How do I use Visual Intelligence?

You need: iOS 26 or later, an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence (for example iPhone 15 Pro or later) with Apple Intelligence turned on, and a result in the app.

  • From a screenshot: take a screenshot of a garment (side button and volume up). Tap Image Search and look for the app's result.
  • With the camera: open Visual Intelligence (press and hold Camera Control, or use the Action button or Control Center), point at the garment, then tap Search.

The result shows the Match score and its label, for example “81% match · Good”, with your season and the closest color in your palette under it.

How do I set my palette as a wallpaper?

  1. In the app, open Palette and tap Lock Screen wallpaper.
  2. Tap Save to Photos. The app asks once for permission to add to your library.
  3. In Photos, open the image, tap Share, then Use as Wallpaper. Adjust it and tap Add.

Tip: in the Shortcuts app, the “Set Wallpaper Photo” action can apply a saved image. Run it after a re-test to refresh your wallpaper.

Which iPhones does it work on?

iPhone with iOS 17 or later. The Control Center control needs iOS 18. Visual Intelligence needs iOS 26 and an iPhone with Apple Intelligence.

Accessibility

Every color is shown with its name, and VoiceOver reads the color names and Match scores, so you never have to rely on seeing the color alone. Text follows your Dynamic Type size, and Reduce Motion is respected.
