This policy explains how the iPhone and iPad app Iconix (“the app”) handles information. The app is published by Claudiu Tigaroi (“I”, “me”), an individual developer based in Romania, in the European Union.

The short version

  • I collect nothing. There is no account, no sign-up, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
  • The app has no servers. Your themes, icons and widget settings are saved on your device.
  • AI themes are made on your device. What you type is not sent to me or to any server.
  • The app can add icons and wallpapers to your photo library, but it can't read your library. For the Photo widget, iOS shares only the photos you pick.
  • Deleting the app deletes all of its data from your device.

What is saved on your device

  • Your themes: custom themes you make in the editor and AI themes you save, with their colors, icon styles, glyphs and wallpaper settings.
  • Widget content you enter: the text of a Note widget, the title and date of a Countdown widget, and the photos you pick for a Photo widget.
  • Settings, such as whether you finished the welcome screens, the theme you set up last, how many AI previews you've used today, and a local record of your purchase status.

The app and its widgets share this data through the app's own container on your device (an App Group), so a widget can show your theme. None of it is sent to me. It stays until you delete it or delete the app.

AI themes

When you describe a theme, it is made on your device. On an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on, the app uses Apple's on-device model. On other devices, a generator built into the app makes the theme from the words you type.

Either way, your description stays on your device. It is not sent to me or to any server.

Photos, Files and sharing

The app asks for permission to add to your photo library, the first time you save icons or a wallpaper to Photos. It can't read your library. When you save to Files instead, you choose where the files go.

For the Photo widget, the app uses the system photo picker, which shares only the photos you choose. The app keeps a copy of those photos in its own container, so the widget can show them.

Images you save or share go where you send them. If you use iCloud Photos or iCloud Drive, Apple syncs them according to your settings.

Shortcuts

To use the icons, you make shortcuts in Apple's Shortcuts app, and the app's guide shows you how. The shortcuts are yours and live in the Shortcuts app. Iconix can open the Shortcuts app for you, but it can't read or change your shortcuts.

Purchases

Purchases are made through the App Store and processed by Apple. I don't receive your name, email or payment details. The app checks your purchase status on your iPhone and iPad through Apple's StoreKit. Apple gives me aggregated reports in App Store Connect, such as the number of downloads and purchases, and crash reports from people who chose to share them with developers in their device settings. These reports don't identify you to me.

No tracking, no ads, no third-party code

The app contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software from other companies. It does not track you across apps or websites and doesn't use the advertising identifier.

If you contact me

If you email or call me, I receive your email address or phone number and whatever you tell me. I use it only to answer you, and I delete it when it's no longer needed. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in replying to you (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

My mailbox is hosted by Google (Gmail), which stores the messages for me.

You can also write to clausewl@icloud.com. That mailbox is hosted by Apple (iCloud Mail), which stores the messages for me.

Children

The app doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children. It is not directed at children under 13.

Your choices

  • You can delete a custom theme in the app at any time.
  • Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device, including what its widgets use.
  • Icons and wallpapers you saved to Photos or Files stay there, and shortcuts you made stay in the Shortcuts app, until you delete them.
  • If you back up your device (iCloud Backup or a computer), the backup includes the app's data. That backup is under your control, and I can't access it.

Your rights, and who is responsible

The controller of the personal data described here is Claudiu Tigaroi, an individual developer based in Romania, in the European Union. You can reach me at claudiutigaroi@gmail.com.

The app sends me no personal data, so there is nothing for me to access, correct, export or delete on my side. What the app keeps is on your device, and you control it with the choices above.

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, write to me. I'll answer within one month. No automated decisions or profiling are made about you.

You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Romania, the ANSPDCP (dataprotection.ro), or the authority of the EU country where you live or work.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, I'll post the new version here with a new date.

If a future version ever needs to send any information off your device, I'll update this policy and the App Store privacy details before that version is released.
