Why can't Iconix change my app icons by itself?

iPhone and iPad don't let one app change another app's icon. No app can do that. What you can do is make a shortcut that opens an app and give the shortcut any icon you like. Iconix makes the icons and walks you through the Shortcuts steps.

How do I install icons with Shortcuts?

First, in Iconix, open a theme and follow the install guide. It saves the icons to Photos or Files. Then, for each app:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app and tap + to make a new shortcut.
  2. Search for the Open App action and add it.
  3. Tap App in the action and choose the app this icon is for.
  4. Tap the arrow next to the shortcut's name at the top, or the Share button, and choose Add to Home Screen.
  5. Tap the small icon under Home Screen Name and Icon, then Choose Photo or Choose File, and pick the Iconix icon.
  6. Type the name to show under the icon, then tap Add.

Your new icon is on the Home Screen. To hide the original icon, touch and hold it, tap Remove App, then Remove from Home Screen. The app stays installed, in the App Library.

Do I have to do this for every app?

Yes, one shortcut for each app. That's how Shortcuts works. You can start with the apps on your first Home Screen page and add more later.

Why don't my new icons show notification badges?

A shortcut is not the app itself, so it doesn't show the app's badges. The original app still gets its notifications and badges, in the App Library or wherever you keep its icon.

How do I set the wallpaper?

  1. In Iconix, save the theme's wallpaper to Photos.
  2. In Photos, open the image, tap Share, then Use as Wallpaper.
  3. Adjust it and tap Add, then choose to set it on the Home Screen, the Lock Screen or both.

Widgets and AI themes

How do I add an Iconix widget?

Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for Iconix. Choose a widget and a size, then tap Add Widget.

Date and Clock are free. Calendar, Photo, Note and Countdown need Iconix Pro. By default, widgets use the theme you set up last.

How do AI themes work?

Describe a mood, a place or a color, and Iconix makes a theme from it: icons, a wallpaper and widgets. It all happens on your device. On an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence, with it turned on, Iconix uses Apple's on-device model. On other devices, a generator built into the app makes the theme from your words.

Free: up to 3 previews a day. Saving or applying an AI theme needs Iconix Pro.

Purchases

What's free and what's Pro?

Free: 4 themes, the editor with all 1,190 glyphs in 6 styles and 1 saved custom theme, up to 3 AI previews a day, the Date and Clock widgets, and the install guide.

Iconix Pro adds all 42 themes, unlimited custom themes, AI themes you can save and apply, and every widget.

Yearly is $19.99 with a 3-day free trial for new subscribers. Monthly is $3.99. Lifetime is $39.99 once. Those are US prices. Full terms are on the terms page.

How do I restore purchases?

In the app, open Settings and tap Restore Purchases. It's also on the purchase screen. Use the same Apple Account you bought with.

I bought Iconix in 2020. Do I keep it?

Yes. Iconix 2.0 is an update of the same app, so your purchase carries over.

  • Lifetime: you keep Iconix Pro, with nothing to do.
  • A monthly or weekly subscription that is still active: it keeps unlocking Iconix Pro for as long as it renews.

If Pro doesn't show after the update, open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases.

How do I cancel a subscription?

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
  3. Choose Iconix and tap Cancel Subscription.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You keep Iconix Pro until the end of the period you paid for. To avoid being charged after the free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

How do I ask for a refund?

Apple handles refunds. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account and choose the purchase.

Your data and devices

Where are my themes saved?

On your device only. There's no account and no server. Deleting the app deletes your themes, so keep the icons you saved in Photos or Files if you want them. Details are in the privacy policy.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Themes, the editor, AI themes and the install guide all work without a connection. Buying or restoring Iconix Pro needs an internet connection.

Which devices does it work on?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later. AI themes with Apple's on-device model need a device that supports Apple Intelligence, with it turned on. Everywhere else, AI themes use the generator built into the app.
